Summary: Essential
Comment: An essential reference in the world of cool soundtracks and an essential Mancini.Very very swingin' sounds, not just "dark" moods. A lot of music in one CD. Perfect for the hipster's cocktail party.

Summary: Smart Mancini since the Very First Sountrack
Comment: One of the first OSTs by OST master Mancini.
Some delicious ingredients were already there: film noir, crime, jazz, and ... Mancini.
It's Mancini from the very moment, it's Mancini for ever!

Summary: Best Musical Score Ever?
Comment: Mancini and Welles collaborated intensively to create the perfect soundtrack for the perfect B-movie. Even the upbeat numbers, like "Orson Around," reflect the sinister glow of the film, which captured Welles' critique of our amoral yet moralistic world wondefully. Others simply set the tone for onscreen action--no stretching for transcendence here. But the very simplicity and even humility of Mancini's score elevate Touch of Evil to the top of the film-music pantheon; it is perfectly integrated with the visuals and evokes them flawlessly when played alone.

Summary: extra info
Comment: This is a fantastic work by Mancini that flows great frombeginning to end. Mancini uses his great abilities here to theextreme, taking such styles as rock and roll and merging them with afro cuban music. Very innovative. For those that are interested in electronic music, this whole album was covered by the brilliant electronic group Cabaret Voltaire in 1981(probably the height of their talents)on the album "Red Mecca"...[You can also get] it at your local record store, or go to Mute.com. I strongly recommend checking it out.
